Seventh Generation Touch of Cloth Diapers

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Seventh Generation. All opinions are 100% mine.

It’s no secret that I’ve kind of fallen off of the cloth diaper bandwagon, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care about picking diapers for my daughter that are non-toxic and gentle on her skin. Of course, it’s also a plus if the diapers are not as bad for the environment. I love Seventh Generation because I feel like it’s a company that sells products that are safe for my child. Some of my favorite products are their dish soap, laundry soap, and hand soap. I try to avoid unnecessary chemicals as much as possible, and Target carries a lot of Seventh Generation products which is great since I shop there a lot (probably a little too much). All of the products I’ve tried worked just as well as other name brands with more chemicals.

Seventh Generation has a new diaper line called Touch of Cloth that’s available exclusively at Target. Touch of Cloth diapers are unbleached cotton. It’s about as close as you can get to cloth diapers, but still use a disposable. Once we moved to solid foods, I really became attached to disposables. I am excited to try these diapers because I am always looking for a safe, non-toxic option for my daughter. Her bottom is so sensitive to chemicals that most diapers give her a rash. Bonus for the Touch of Cloth diapers: since these aren’t typical disposable diapers they also aren’t as bad for the environment. One reason that Touch of Cloth diapers have a smaller footprint is farmers don’t have to add bleach to the cotton, so they actually save water during the manufacturing process compared to other diapers. You can learn more about Touch of Cloth diapers in the videos below.

Easy to Make Homemade Desserts for All Occasions (Guest Post)

A good dessert can really make a meal but sometimes you just don’t have the time or energy to go whipping up a masterpiece after spending all day slaving over a hot stove cooking up the main course. What you’re in need of is some easy to make desserts that will be rustled up in no time. Here is a list of some of the best, and what’s more, they’re perfect for any occasion!

Crepes

Soon to be your go to in any snacking or dessert situations, not only are crepes incredibly easy to make, but as they’re quite basic, you can top them with just about anything, meaning you can create a new dessert almost every time! To make enough to serve 8, all you need is 4 eggs, 300ml milk, 2 tablespoons of melted butter, 125g flour, 2 tablespoons of caster sugar and just a pinch of salt. Mix all ingredients together into a smooth batter before emptying around 3 tablespoons into a heated frying pan laced with a small amount of butter. Heat and flip, then repeat the process until you run out of mixture. Serve immediately, choosing your own topping. Some of the best suggestions are chocolate and banana, or strawberries and icing sugar, but the possibilities are limitless!

Microwave brownies

You can’t go wrong with a chocolate dessert and this quick fix sharing brownie platter is just the ticket. Best of all, you can make these delicious delights in the microwave. Melt butter for about 40 seconds before adding in 200g sugar, 6th cocoa powder and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, in that order. Then mix in 2 eggs, whipping lightly, before stirring in 100g flour. Once the mixture is even, grease a microwave safe dish and add in the mixture. Pop in the microwave for around 5 minutes and that’s it! Just make sure you let the brownies cool before eating!

Lemon Squares

These desserts are again an unbelievably easy to make treat that everyone’s sure to love, whether served as an afternoon treat or with cream or ice cream as an after-dinner dessert. Simply mix up 200g flour, 75g icing sugar and 175g softened butter into a doughy mix. Pat onto a greased baking tray and pop into a preheated oven (1900) for 20 minutes. While the base is baking, whisk together 3 eggs, 300g caster sugar, 3 tablespoons of plain flour and 4 tablespoons of lemon juice. When 20 minutes is up, pour this mixture on top of the base and return to the oven for another 20-25 minutes. Then simply leave to cool on a wire rack, and dust with icing sugar before cutting into squares.

Easy Syrup Sponge

This top treat doesn’t even require an oven – simply cook this dessert in the microwave for a truly gooey pudding. Simply pour 2 tablespoons of golden syrup into a 1 litre microwave safe bowl, making sure to coat the sides and bottom. Then, using a separate bowl, beat together 2 large eggs, 2.5 teaspoons of baking powder, 75g plain flour, 100g caster sugar and 100g soft butter. When even, spoon the mixture onto the golden syrup. Cover with cling film and cook in the microwave for 5 minutes. Let it cool and serve with custard, extra syrup or ice cream.

That’s just a selection of some of the best easy to make recipes for desserts that can suit all occasions. Be sure to keep checking the site for more tips on easy and efficient ways to bake great goodies.
